Italian style
Hey all just returned to Innsbruck from 2 weeks in Northern Italy with the crew- Ness, Byrna pronto!, Greg, Katy and Handy! We hired a car, Renault Scenic- was a really good car loads of extras and Apparently it does 185km's on the autobahn fully loaded with 5 people luggage and Handy's golf clubs!
Off to Guarda Lake, where we got rained on and had to share the bungalow with Ness, Pronto and Greg.. Thanks you lot! We were gonna hire bikes but it did not happen. Boys wanted to go to the water park but as it was raining it was decided to be no good.
So from there we took off to Levanto which was beautiful. Really nice apartment for the 5 of us and a slide show of photos on K& H's laptop. Walked between some villages and train rode the rest around Cinque Terre (5 villages) One village, Riomaggiore we went swimming there was a cliff ledge that everyone was jumping off. So the boys decide they want to do that, as there was a girl who was doing backflips off it. Handy decides he can do that and doesn't. Now he has pain when he breathes in and trying to lift himself up! We thinks he has broken rib! Had an amazing meal in Manarola everyone was very impressed and on the price also! While we watched the boats being lowered into the sea from the cliff we we on. It was a fair way down- 2-3 stories high.
From there we left to go to Lucca- Borga A Mozna, near where Gregg had worked in a villa some time ago. The land was beautiful -the Tuscany region.
Pisa for half a day and yes it really leans! We were going to go up it but it was 1.5hrs wait. We ate lunch outside the city centre where we all had something light for lunch. Well the boys had big beers and we ate salad. Which when we got the bill were Â12.90 EUROS each!!!!!!!. The total bill was something crazy like 140 euros. We told the manager he was dreaming! (Most salads in normalrestaurantss are Â4!) We should have asked for a menu with the prices on it! Live and learn hey. We kicked up a fuss and in thend gaveve him 100..Stillll way too much but easierSoso it worked out at 17.50 each. A minor bruise on the wallet! We decided to push on.
Onto Milan mmmmm...Shoppingng.... oh sorry side-tracked for a minute! and a decent place to stay in the centre. Lucky enough to get tickets to the GRAND PRIX in MONZA. Which was good and loud! Melbourne G.P. is better as there was not too many decent places to watch from and grand stand tickets were Â300 and above so we were plebs for a day... hhhmmm maybe we are plebs everyday but anyhow! I am also sure that watching it from your lounge chair is even better! We had an interesting array of people around us, 2 Saffa's who were quite funny and a group of Italians who had brought their own scaffold to sit on and not let anyone in front of. One of the guys was very emotional about the whole thing and everytime Kimi went past he was screaming at him "Vie Kimi Vie" As if he could hear him!!! Honestly, Ness and I have no idea what he was saying but we found it quite amusing. We all played keepings off our area- not letting anyone else in! There is only so much of me to puff up! But I think I would make a good door bitch!
Everyone went shopping the next day even if they didn't like it! i.e Handy- (especially) and the boys after they bought what they wanted. We met them at a bar later. I bought a jumper and top frdieselsel... I am not looking at my credit castatementent its gonna be scary! But I have a really nice jumper that'sats ok!
As we went to Monza and Gregg had to get back to work; there was really not enough time for us to get down to Rome and spend soqualitylty time there so we gave it a miss. So we will get back there at some stage I hope! Heading back to Guarda Lake, found a great mobile home caravan park and hung out for a couple of days. Again the boys wanted to go to the theme parks but alas the weather was not in thefavorour.Probablybly not such a bad thing for a man with a crook rib cage!
So we headed back to Innsbruck for a night where on the way home we experienced -the Bosner that we have heard so many tales of. A hot dog/ wurst in bread mustard, sauce raw onions.Indigestionion and heart-attack in a roll! Andrew and Katy have headed off to Brighton I hope you made it in time for Louises birthday! Happy Birthday Lou!
Now we- Davo, Ness, Byrna and I, find ourselves shabbily happy after a big night in Prague! This town is exactly like a fairytale, castles, towers, beautifully lit up at night. I widefinitelyley be trying to put photos on the blog at some stage. Meet up with some of N& B friends Alisha and Adam, who organized some wickaccommodationion for us all. Nice one, Thank you again! We have had a blast with you guys and good luck on your travels!
